BioGRID 3.2 – Now Live
The BioGRID was updated today to our newest release designated BioGRID 3.2. This update includes several bug fixes and user interface improvements as well as some new features. The following is a short list of some of the changes:
  • Support for Post Translational Modifications. Our result pages may now include listings of post translational modifications. If available, these will be accessible via the “PTM Sites” link in the “Switch View” section of our interaction summaries. Examples: CLA4, CDC28, and SWI4. This feature already includes more than 20,000 PTM sites and downloadable files containing all sites will be made available soon.
  • Graphical Viewer. Our search result pages now include a built in graphical viewer. This feature can be accessed by clicking the “Visualize Interactions Graphically” button on any result page.
  • Gene Tags. For a given result page, we’ve incorporated gene tags that may contain additional annotation. For instance, genes with new post translational modification data might have a red [P] tag that indicates the existence of phosphorylation sites. Simply mouse over the gene tag for more information. This feature will be greatly expanded in future updates. For a listing of our current tags, visit our wiki.
  • Graphical User Interface Updates. We’ve made several user interface updates to improve the functionality of the BioGRID and to reduce page load times.
  • Search Improvements. We’ve made several enhancements to improve the speed and accuracy of our search results.
  • Compatibility improvements for download files. We’ve fixed several issues with our download files to improve compatibility with standards.
  • Updated Wiki Documentation. We’ve updated several pages in our Wiki to provide updated documentation on a variety of topics.
These are just some of the many improvements now available in BioGRID 3.2. We have many additional features already under development for version 3.3 that will expand on this functionality and ensure the BioGRID remains a useful resource for the biological community. If you have any questions about this build or suggestions for future builds, please feel free to contact us at biogridadmin@gmail.com.
