The Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, Advanced Technology Research Facility (ATRF) in Frederick Maryland will host the first annual Mad SSCi meeting. This will be an excellent opportunity for core facility directors, managers and staff to network and obtain training and advanced technical information at a state-of-the-art facility intended to be "...a place where public-private partnerships will produce the next generation of diagnostics and treatments for cancer and AIDS." The meeting will kick off with pre-conference satellite events featuring several full and half day Vendor Workshops where attendees can learn from field application specialists in lectures and gain hands on experience in wet lab environments. There will be tours of the ATRF Core Facilities highlighting Imaging, Nanotechnology, Genomics, Proteomics and the Biopharmaceutical Development Program laboratories. The following two day agenda will feature a keynote speaker, and two major talks on cancer genomics, nanotechnology and proteomics technologies. Morning and afternoon concurrent sessions are being planned to feature biomolecular technology topics ranging from epigenomics, microarrays, and NextGen sequencing, to metabolomics discovery, proteomics, bioinformatics, flow cytometry and imaging. Administrative and core management sessions will feature business skills, core management and administration, biorepositories, LIMS/ELN, IT infrastructure and cloud computing, and quality issues in cores.
