The Sheffield Bioinformatics Hub is a new venture jointly sponsored by the Sheffield biology departments (MBB, APS and BMS)

The Sheffield Bioinformatics Hub is a new venture jointly sponsored by the Sheffield biology departments (MBB, APS and BMS), two Medical School research centres (SITraN and Sheffield Cancer Research Centre) and the NHS (Sheffield Children’s Hospital Trust).

  • A new and vibrant working environment for Bioinformaticians to work in Sheffield
  • Molecular biologists nearby and ready to collaborate
  • NHS Diagnostic service producing high throughput sequencing data to become a research resource
  • A wide range of computer scientists and mathematical modelers already in post in the Science, Engineering and Medical faculties
  • This new centre is a new focal point from which we wish to build intense bioinformatic academic activity

The links below will show you the biology, bioinformatics and computer science that we currently do - please take a virtual tour around our departments that feed into the Bioinformatic Hub.
