Dow Agrosciences R&D is currently hiring a senior bioinformatics architect in the R&D IT and Data Analysis (ITDA) function. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of bioinformatics and large-scale genomic information systems, including familiarity with next generation sequencing data management and processing. Experience with High Performance Computing and software development processes is required.
The senior bioinformatics architect will partner with group leaders in R&D to develop a computational vision and architectures to underpin Dow AgroSciences genomic data resources. He/She will also manage/lead key projects related to implementation of software and data infrastructure that allow processing, storage, analysis, exploration, and discovery with data generated from next generation sequencing platforms.

- Strong leadership and strategic thinking ability
- Experience developing and configuring systems and robust pipelines that support the processing, storage, analysis, exploration, and discovery with sequence data including that generated from NGS platforms
- Experience with developing systems and best practices for managing large quantities of genomic information.
- Ability to write code and pipelines for HPC environments such as MPI, FPGAs, Hybridcore, GPUs, cloud computing etc
- Programming skills in languages such as PERL, SQL, C/C#, .Net, Java etc.
- Good understanding of commercial and open source sequence analysis tools, techniques and libraries.
- Good understanding of plant and bacterial genome organization is desirable.
This position is located in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.
Qualifications
- Masters or Doctorate degree. A minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology, Computer Science or related field.
- Experience working in a Bioinformatics/Genome center is desired but not a prerequisite.
