Assistant Professor @ Rowan University

Rowan University is a public school in Glassboro, N.J., with a branch in Camden, N.J., that offers bachelor’s through doctoral programs. In 2012, Rowan introduced a School of Biomedical Sciences and opened the first new M.D.-granting medical school in New Jersey in more than 35 years, Camden-based Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, in conjunction with Cooper University Health Care. In July 2013, Rowan included what is now known as the School of Osteopathic Medicine, in Stratford, currently a part of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, making it only the second university in the nation with two medical schools. Rowan is slated to collaborate with Rutgers-Camden to create a College of Health Sciences in Camden. Recently designated by the State as only the second comprehensive public research institution in New Jersey, Rowan also includes the Rohrer College of Business and colleges of Communication and Creative Arts, Education, Engineering, Graduate and Continuing Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Performing Arts, and Science and Mathematics.

We seek an energetic and innovative faculty member for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computer Engi-neering with emphasis in  computer architecture, embedded systems, robotics, VLSI design, mobile computing, high per-formance computing, computer and network security, or related areas. Highly qualified individuals with a proven and ex-ceptional track record in teaching, research and funding in these areas may be considered for a tenure-track Associate Professor position.

Rowan University in general, and College of Engineering in particular, are experiencing tremendous growth. At the institu-tional level, Rowan is now designated by the State of New Jersey as a Comprehensive Research University, Rowan’s new Cooper Medical School has just opened its doors, and the highly-regarded School of Osteopathic Medicine is now integrated into Rowan as the university’s second medical school. At the college and departmental level, we are seeing significant increase of interest and enrollment in our programs for which we are currently planning our second building. We are also in the final stages of planning the new biomedical engineering program, slated to open in Fall 2014. Further-more, with the new “Comprehensive Research University” status, we are enhancing our research infrastructure and capa-bilities, further developing our South Jersey Technology Park (http://www.sjtechpark.org/) for expanded industry collaboration and entrepreneurship activities, provide more funding for graduate research assistants, and start planning for a new PhD program.
These developments have now set the framework for initiating new multidisciplinary research areas in computer engineer-ing, and for complementing existing R&D in smart sensors, embedded systems, smart grid, signal/speech processing, computational intelligence and machine learning, bioinformatics, imaging & virtual reality, nanotechnology and sustainable design, and bio-engineering/technology.
