Responsibilities*
Coordinate multi-site analysis plans and timelines.
Prepare materials for regulatory approval with local University of Michigan Institutional Review Board.
Prepare materials to facilitate access to external datasets and exchange of data generated in Michigan with external collaborators.
Maintain, format and check input and output datasets used for analysis.
Carry out genetic association analyses of disease and metabolic or expression traits.
Participate in the design and analysis of research projects and interpretation of their results.
Customize and implement design and analysis plans for analyses not covered by standard statistical or statistical genetic software.
Provide technical advice and assistance to students and staff within our research team.
Required Qualifications*
Experience in the management of collaborative studies, with a focus on genetic studies.
Ability to work efficiently and independently in a highly interactive and collegial group.
Strong attention to detail and willingness to document work.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong work ethic.
Desired Qualifications*
Masters degree in Epidemiology, Genetics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline; or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of project and team management software and techniques.
Experience with large studies and the handling of large data sets.
Knowledge of statistical genetics and database management software.
Experience with statistical software.

Additional Information
This position is posted as an Research Area Specialist Intermediate/Research Area Specialist Senior. Depending on experience is how the candidate will be hired. The RAS Senior salary range is: $64,000-$71,500.
The Department of Biostatistics and Center for Statistical Genetics invite applications for MS-level project coordinator and statistical genetic analysts. The successful candidate will join a productive and collegial research team focused on the statistical design and analysis of human genetic studies, and participate in studies using next generation sequencing data, whole genome association data, and gene expression data to dissect common human diseases such as age related macular degeneration and related traits, heart disease, and/or type 2 diabetes. Each of these projects requires integrating and coordinating the efforts of many individuals worldwide and poses challenging and rapidly evolving statistical and computational challenges.
