The "Seed biology" group needs a Postdoctoral FellowFood security is one of the major challenges of the 21st century. Legumes are second only to cereals in importance to humans as a source of food. In this changing world, legumes play a crucial role in sustainable agriculture because they supply their own nitrogen via symbiosis . Therefore, legumes are important targets to optimize the amount and type of compounds produced and stored in the seed.Position DescriptionThe proposed work is an innovative and trans-disciplinary approach, which requires the application of large-scale system biology approaches, functional genomics, and bioinformatics with the classical disciplines of genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology and plant physiology. The major goal of the research proposed here is to identify and validate transcription factor genes that control the nutrient composition of legume mature seeds.QualificationsSuccessful completion of a PhD is required. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, creative-thinker capable of independent thought and experimentation. Ability to communicate clearly, work independently, and interact collaboratively is essential. English speaking, reading and writing skills are required. Knowledge of seed biology and basic computational sciences are highly advantageous. Position will be opened after October 1st (2013) but candidates should apply immediately.--------To Apply: Please send your CV, cover letter and a short research statement (1-2 pages max.)
